Though win98 will boot... Do *not* install win98 and XP on the same partition... when you do that XP will destroy your win98 outlook express... there are additional problems that can also result... so be sure to install XP on a different partition...even if you need to get another harddrive to do so.

Not worth it - it ruins the surprise when you find another useful one! Many people using Linux now do not have that mindset or much care. Thats not a criticism of them. They may see me as "sad"! Sad them, then. It's ordinary human curiousity to fiddle and find out about anything they have. Peter.

Then
modify the WinXP single-boot boot.ini file so that it will dual-boot. (Since it's already dual-booting, you can leave boot.ini as it is now. realize that I'm saying that the RUNNING operating system will call its partition "C:", while the other OS is merely seen as a file hierarchy in another partition.

That's another option too. My concern about one vs two partitions was the fact that at work we still have a bunch of computers with small hard drives 1.2 gig - ok maybe it's not that small, but once you start installing all the needed apps, the room becomes scarse -, and i never liked the idea of having two

I suspect you have a higher than average IQ, and could take some things for granted that others may not in this field. Most people that come up with gadgets etc.. have similar minds , so its not too difficult to see "where they are coming from" But some people need hand-holding to program their VCR.
